A rock musical adaptation of Creature From the Black Lagoon opened on June 30 as one of the attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Based on the original 1954 film, the musical attraction has an approximate 25 minute running time and a storyline that has been updated from the original screenplay to infuse romance and comic relief with extravagant stagecraft, acrobatic choreography and a contemporary musical score. The show's action travels deep into the remote Amazon to follow the Creature as he tries to win the heart of the beautiful, but reluctant, Kay.

The creative team includes Tony Award-nominated director and choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett, scenic designer James Youmans, creature & puppet designer Michael Curry, and fly sequence designer Paul Rubin.
